Geobuildex Nonwoven Geotextile

GBX Nonwoven Geotextiles are made from the most durable and highest quality polyester or polypropylene yarns and are needle-punched to form a strong and dimensionally stable fiber network to meet the most
challenging and demanding requirements of the civil, infrastructural and marine engineering field.

Combined with the state of the art technology to produce geotextile quality that is comparable to international standards, GBX nonwoven geotextiles are ideally used for separation, filtration, drainage, erosion control, ground stabilization and liner protection applications in roadways, railroads, landfills or coastal works.

Properties of GBX Nonwoven Geotextile

Produced from one of the most chemically inert polymers available ie polyester or polypropylene, added with anti-oxidant additives and ultraviolet (UV) stabilizers, GBX nonwoven geotextiles possess a superior UV resistance and chemical resistance properties in even the most aggressive environmental applications. They are resistant to all naturally occurring soil acids and alkalis and unaffected by biological contaminants such as bacteria or fungi. This is an imperative properties of the GBX nonwoven geotextiles as they are able to retain most of its strength and tenacity when exposed to the sunlight prior to the embedment by backfilling materials or when comes in contact the surrounding soils when embedded.

To further enhance \the resistance to UV ray, GBX nonwoven geotextile are coloured white to minimize heat absorption, thus improving its durability properties to withstand the harsh environment normally encountered at site.

Polypropylene and polyester are highly extensible – a prime requirement of nonwoven filtration and separation products. Moreover, GBX Nonwoven Geotextile uses staple fibres for their manufacturing process, in order to provide maximum extensibility. This parameter which contributes to the high tear resistance of the geotextile is essential particularly in coastal engineering works.

GBX Nonwoven Geotextile are properly designed and produced to ensure consistencies in its fiber texture and distribution. Hence, the geotextile is very uniform and void spaces are very consistent, an ideal condition necessary to provide the optimum hydraulic performance.

FUNCTIONS

1. Separation

GBX Nonwoven Geotextile ensures the soft subgrade does not contaminate the fill material quality. This will ensure bearing capacity of the soils remain unaffected.

It prevents the loss of aggregate into the soft subgrade. Thus, a higher degree of compaction is attained, resulting with improved bearing capacity.

By achieving this, construction can be undertaken in adverse weather condition, thus saving time and most importantly, the road service life can be greatly enhanced.

2. Filtration

GBX nonwoven geotextiles outperform natural filters in many applications particularly revetments and subsoil drainage. The extremely high porosity of nonwoven geotextiles allows water flow while preventing fines migration.

The complex flow path mimics a natural filter and provides considerable cost saving over a traditional graded natural filter.

3. Drainage

Lightweight and medium weight nonwoven geotextiles prove to be excellent filters in subsurface drainage applications. The needle punch construction of the fabric allows subsurface water to pass into the drainage pipe for proper channeling.

At the same time, the nonwoven prevents adjacent soil from clogging the system and causing costly excavation and repair.

When properly selected, nonwoven geotextiles are effective in most soils, particularly in environments where silt and clay are prominent.

4. Liner / Geomembrane Protection

Heavy-duty nonwoven geotextiles cushion and protect geomembranes from damage by sharp objects, elevating puncture, impact and abrasion resistance. Custom-made heavy duty nonwoven geotextiles are also available for the most challenging applications

5. Hard Armour Rocks Underlayment

Soil migration and the buildup of hydrostatic pressure are two of the leading causes of failure in hard armor, such as rock riprap and concrete block systems, along shorelines and waterways.

Nonwoven geotextiles act as a filter to help prevent subsurface soil migration and relieve hydrostatic pressure beneath hard armour rock erosion control systems.
