GBX Woven Geotextile is made from high modulus individual polyester yarns woven together to provide dimensionally stable geotextile which are capable to withstand and absorb permanently high tensile forces even at low levels of elongation.
This property renders it suitable for earth soil reinforcement as low creep characteristic is imperative to mobilize the required strength. It is also proven to have a remarkable capacity for disturbing loads, reducing rutting and extending the life of paved and unpaved roadways.
1. Basal Reinforcement of Embankments
Massive removal and replacement of unsuitable soil can be very difficult and cumbersome at most sites. Hence, a simpler and quicker method of laying GBX Woven Geotextile shall be adopted to overcome problematic site related to weak foundation soils or high water-table areas.
It assists to separate between the imported fill and existing soft foundation soils and by this manner, preventing a possible local bearing capacity failure. GBX Woven Geotextile can also prevent excessive vertical and horizontal deformation. in regards to this, it has been used extensively and successfully for roadworks whereby soft grounds are encountered.
2. Reinforced Soil Walls
Where land space is limited particularly in urban areas, the GBX Woven can be designed and laid as reinforced retaining walls to minimize land acquisition. This method is comparatively cheaper if compared to other retaining wall types due to its simplicity and ease of construction without the need for heavy or expensive machineries.
It is often used to steepen the side slopes by further reinforcing the slope with the GBX Woven Geotextiles.
3. Pile Capping
This method utilizes the GBX Woven Geotextile to act as a capping on top of small individual concrete pile caps. This can be termed as reinforcement of embankment above the piles.
4. Load Redistribution
Here, the GBX Woven Geotextile can be installed to distribute loading in order to minimize settlement over weak and soft grounds. Minimal settlement may sometimes occur due to the underlying soft soils.
However differential settlement is not expected to take place with the incorporation of the Woven Geotextile as any possible settlement will take place uniformly. This is very essential criteria to prevent any potential damages which may be inflicted onto the properties of which the foundation is supporting.
